Music, Music, Music

So here's my first impression of John's album "Music, Music, Music":
I love it, and it appeals to me much more than "Another Side" (which I think is not bad, but it didn't catch me as much as this one).
I especially love "I Made it Through the Rain" - a wonderful melody *melts* - and (after a short adaptation period because it's arranged a little different than the "Faenol Festival version") the duet with Daniel Boys, "I Know Him So Well". Their voices are just perfect together.
And "I Am What I Am", and, and, and... nope - I think I just love the whole album.
Just one bit of criticism: the writing in the booklet - what color is that!?! A sort of very light lavender or something? I could hardly read it, it's too pale. Other than that: wonderful songs, beautifully arranged (lovely, romantic, yet not too 'schmaltzy'), plus some gorgeous pics of John ;)

Got mine this afternoon (thanks to amazon UK for not using Royal Mail this time; if they had, I'm sure I would have waited much longer...)

I'm glad you like it. I loved the music in Another Side, so I'm probably going to be really thrilled with this one. I can't wait. It's supposed to be delivered tomorrow. Not bad for across the pond. :-)

Enjoy :)
I think if you liked 'Another Side' not much can go wrong with this one for you.

I think I'm going to track my package and see where it is. I'm anxious. I'm afraid it's going to get waylayed and I won't get it until after Thanksgiving. *crosses fingers*

Thanks for review. I got mine this am but haven't had time to listen to it yet as BJ, my youngest, 10 months, is walking now and he and his brother, aged 2, are very time consuming---

You're welcome. Yes, I think with two kids it can be difficult to find the time. Maybe when you've put them to bed.

Thanks for reply--I have two older kids as well--so not a lot of spare time--still haven't heard the CD---took the older 2 to school and the 2 year old to nursery and then went to Supermarket with BJ. Might be able to listen when he has his nap--

Good luck with that ;)

REALLY? I'm afraid I'm about a to be a very lonely girl in the Barrowmania universe. :(

Nah, I don't think you'll be too lonely. Not a chance that anybody will like it.
What I really had to laugh out loud about was iTunes classifying the album as "rock". What the ...? I'd rather say it's 'easy listening', just like 'Another Side'. For me just perfect to let it play along while having a lazy evening on the sofa ;)
Like your icon btw - my favourite album of John so far XD

anybody? oh hell, I meant everybody... shouldn't be writing while configuring pc programmes XD

I've be very interested to see the reaction. I know it's hard to be rational when it's OMG!HIM, but when it sucks (as much of this truly does) it needs to said, especially if it's going to be the first exposure for a lot of non-Barrowmaniacs. They'll wonder what all the hype is about and will never get a chance to hear the really good stuff.

I love it! Both Sides Now is amazing - I love that song anyway! But the music as well as the vocal on this album is consistently lovely and well arranged!

Still waiting on my copy to arrive across the pond, it was dispatched from Amazon UK this past Saturday. Believe me when I say no other artist these days gives me the chills when they sing like John does (I listened to my copy of Another Side today and it still sends shivers through me)

I so do believe you :) But (though as I said above I love the album) really "chilling" songs are rare on it - for me that's definitely the duet version of "I Know Him So Well" (I could play that in a loop and listen to it all day long) and "Both Sides Now". Most of the rest I'd say is "just" beautiful. "Uptown Girl" is a song that usually bothers me, cause I heard one too many version of it - not this time though, I love the harmonies. All in all the kind of music I love to listen to while relaxing after work. Definitely nothing sophisticated or innovative, but easy on the ear :D

I just got my album within the last hour, I popped it straight in my laptop and fell in love with instantly. Everything is so beautiful and, like you, it appeals to me more than 'Another Side'. Also that writing on the booklet is so hard to read, I had to shine a light on it.
